Barcelona want to sign another Chelsea defender

Barcelona are working over a summer deal for Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano claims.

The Blaugrana have already agreed a deal with Andreas Christensen. The Dane will join the club following the expiry of his Blues contract in June.

It is now reported that they are interested in signing another Blues defender in Alonso, who is keen to return to Spain for the back end of his career.

The Spaniard will enter the final year of his Blues deal in July, and it is claimed that talks are underway over a summer move to Camp Nou.

Jordi Alba has been an undisputed left-back for the Catalan giants, but manager Xavi Hernandez is aiming to add more competition for places.

Alonso has been a long-term target for the Blaugrana. He was initially linked with the club when Ernesto Valverde was the manager in 2019.

There has been repeated speculation over Alonso's future in recent years, and it now appears he is prepared to leave the Blues for good.
