Arsenal are planning to finalise a summer transfer for Bologna defender Aaron Hickey, CalcioNapoli24 claims.

The Gunners are keen on purchasing a new left-back this summer, and Hickey has reportedly emerged as their prime transfer target.

The north London club have already initiated contact with his agents and they are now set to speak with Bologna's director of football.

Riccardo Bigon will be in London on Wednesday to discuss with six clubs, but the Gunners are likely to be the front-runners for Hickey.

Mikel Arteta's side have already done business with Bologna, having signed Takehiro Tomiyasu before last summer's transfer deadline.

The Japan international has been a huge fan favourite, and there is now growing optimism that they can land another player from Bologna.

The Serie A outfit value Hickey at around €20m, and the Gunners should get their hands on him with the good working relationship built.

The arrival of Hickey could coincide with the departure of Nuno Tavares, who has been hugely disappointing in his debut campaign.
