Man Utd striker set for summer departure

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani will be leaving the club when his contract expires on June 30.

The Uruguayan had a good debut season with the club in 2020/21, netting 17 goals across all competitions.

He was rewarded with a new deal as a result, but his second year did not go as planned for several reasons.

With the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, he fell down the pecking order, thus become a regular substitute.

On top of this, he suffered several injuries throughout the campaign.

Interim boss Ralf Rangnick has now confirmed that Cavani will be heading for the exit door this summer.

It is unclear where the striker will move next, but the early indications are that he could head to La Liga.

Cavani was on the radar of Barcelona at the turn of the year, but United had no plans of losing him mid-season.

They are unlikely to return for his services, but there is speculation that Sevilla might be interested in him.
