Arsenal expected to sign versatile winger

Arsenal are expected to complete the signing of Sao Paulo winger Marquinhos in the coming days, according to Globo Esporte.

The Gunners have been keeping tabs on the teenager for several months, and they have now agreed a fee with the Brazilian outfit.

The club have finalised a package of around £3 million. It will be paid in two instalments with the first part due by June 30.

Marquinhos is capable of playing on either wing. His statistics are not overly impressive thus far, but the Gunners believe in his potential.

It remains to be seen whether the 19-year-old will be involved in pre-season. The club first need to sort out a work permit for him.

If they are unsuccessful, he could be sent out on loan to a European club to earn valuable experience during the next campaign.

Arsenal are expected to spend big this summer, and the focus could be on pursuing one or two marquee and experienced stars.
