Arsenal fail with opening Jesus bid

Arsenal have reportedly failed with an opening bid to sign Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus.

The Gunners are keen on strengthening their centre-forward department this summer, and they have identified Jesus as the prime target.

The Brazilian has already given the go-ahead for the move, but the Gunners still need to convince the Cityzens over the transfer package.

According to Goal Brasil, the club recently made an opening bid of €50m for the marksman, but the proposal was snubbed by the Cityzens.

Jesus has only 12 months remaining on his contract, but Pep Guardiola's side appear adamant that they won't sell him for less than €60m.

Arsenal are expected to make a renewed bid in the near future, and they remain optimistic that they can sign the 25-year-old for less.

Jesus had a productive 2021/22 campaign with the Cityzens, bagging 13 goals and 12 assists from 41 appearances across all competitions.

The Cityzens have offered him a new deal, but he is keen to move on with the expected arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez this summer.
