Grimaldo to Arsenal?

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Benfica defender Alejandro Grimaldo this summer.

The Gunners are keen on bolstering the left-back position this summer amid the injury concerns associated with Kieran Tierney.

Nuno Tavares was signed to provide a solution last year, but the Portuguese was far from impressive in his debut campaign.

According to Record, Grimaldo has now emerged as a potential target for the Gunners. He could be prised away for just €7million

The arrival of Grimaldo could pave the way for Tavares' exit on a temporary basis. Marseille are keen on signing him.

Meanwhile, this could also mean that they could end their pursuit of Ajax's Lisandro Martinez, who favours Manchester United.

The Gunners have made two offers for the Argentine with the latest being €40m. Ajax have yet to respond to the proposal.

Elsewhere, United have not made a formal bid for Martinez, but there is the anticipation that the 24-year-old would choose them.

Martinez is said to welcome a reunion with United boss Erik ten Hag, having worked together at Ajax over the past three seasons.
