Lisandro Martinez flies to Manchester to complete deal
Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez will complete a transfer to Man Utd this weekend, with the Argentine international set to sign a five year deal with Erik Ten Hag's side. Arsenal had hoped to persuade Martinez to move to the Emirates, but the lure of Martinez's former manager Ten Hag proved the decisive factor.
The 24-year-old will become Manchester United's third arrival of the busy summer transfer window, following Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia to Old Trafford. Manager Erik Ten Hag is rebuilding his squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign, and Martinez will be a major coup for the Old Trafford outfit.
Martinez touched down on a private jet today in Manchester, with a deal ready to be signed. It is understood United's offer is a five-year contract worth around £130,000 per week.
Martinez, who has 7 caps for his country, arrived at Ajax Amsterdam from Defensa y Justicia in his homeland. The 5 foot 9 defender may not be tall, but he is strong in the air and very comfortable with the ball at his feet.
A deal will be announced early next week.
