De Ligt to join Bayern Munich

Matthijs de Ligt appeared in more than 80 games for Juventus, scoring 8 goals, and now makes the move to the Bundesliga where he will link up with new arrival Sadio Mane at the Bavarian side.

Matthijs de Ligt has joined Bayern Munich in a transfer deal worth a reported 80 million euros. The Dutch international, who is considered one of Europe's best defenders, will depart Juventus after just three years.

The centre-back has penned a deal until 2027, and in completing a move to Germany will become the club's transfer record. Today, Robert Lewandowski is all set to move to Barcelona for 50 million euros, freeing up the funds to make a move for defender De Ligt.

In signing De Ligt, Bayern Munich will beat both Man City and Chelsea to the defender's coveted signature, and follows fellow Dutch international Ryan Gravenberch in moving to the Allianz Arena.

A deal will be formally completed on Monday evening and an announcement will follow shortly thereafter.

De Ligt's move to Juventus was largely disappointing, as the club's Serie A era of dominance appears to have come to an end.
