Dumfries on Man Utd and Chelsea radar

Manchester United and Chelsea are both interested in signing Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries this summer, according to Calciomercato.

The Dutchman was heavily linked with a Premier League move last summer, but he ended up joining the Nerazzurri from PSV Eindhoven.

The right wing-back had a superb debut campaign with 12 goal contributions, but Inter are willing to sell him for a profit amid financial concerns.

According to Calciomercato, the San Siro giants are prepared to sanction his sale if they receive a fee in the region of €40 million from suitors.

United and Chelsea are deemed to be closely monitoring the situation, and it is added that Inter are already weighing up Dumfries' successor.

Chelsea currently have Reece James, who is a nailed-on starter at right wing-back, but the arrival of Dumfries could see him move to central defence.

Meanwhile, United are unlikely to play with a three-man backline next term, but Dumfries can comfortably operate from the right-back role as well.

The 26-year-old started his career from the right-back position, and only over the past 12 months, he has been converted into a wing-back.
