Firmino set for Liverpool stay

Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino has revealed that he has no plans of leaving the club this summer amid the constant speculation.

The Brazilian had an injury-plagued 2021/22 campaign for the Reds, but he is back to full fitness ahead of the new season.

Firmino won't be guaranteed starts after Darwin Nunez's arrival, but he is still content to continue with the FA Cup holders.

He told TNT Sports after the Community Shield win: "I love this team, city and fans. I'm here at Liverpool and I want to stay."

Firmino has entered the final year of his Liverpool deal, and the club are yet to open negotiations over a possible contract renewal.

They could be prepared to assess his fitness over the coming months before considering whether to hand him with a new deal.

Firmino has been linked with Juventus by the media lately, but Fabrizio Romano has revealed that there has been no contact.

The Bianconeri are eyeing a new striker this summer. They are focused on re-signing Alvaro Morata or landing Timo Werner on loan.
