Man Utd set for Martial contract talks

Manchester United are set to open contract talks with Anthony Martial following an impressive turnaround in his career.

The Frenchman was deemed surplus to requirements at the beginning of the year, and he was loaned out to Spanish side Sevilla.

However, his time at the La Liga outfit was a disaster, and there were suggestions that United may look to offload him again.

Martial has since turned around his fortunes with a superb pre-season under Erik ten Hag, and he is now regarded as a key player.

His current £250,000-a-week deal does not expire until June 2024, but the hierarchy are set to extend his stay to preserve his value.

The 26-year-old was desperate to leave United earlier this summer, but under Ten Hag, he has found a renewed confidence in his abilities.

He has yet to feature regularly this term due to injuries, but recently made a mark against Liverpool with a match-winning assist off the bench.
