Arsenal are working hard to sign Palmeiras midfielder Danilo before the transfer window closes at 11pm tomorrow.

The Gunners are currently short in the midfield department following injuries to Mohamed Elneny as well as Thomas Partey.

Partey is scheduled to return in two weeks' time, but the Ghanaian's injury record means that they can overly rely on him.

Hence, the club desperately need a new defensive midfielder, and The Mail claim that talks are underway to land Danilo.

The Gunners are prepared to offer around £20 million for the 21-year-old, and they are working hard to secure his services in time.

Palmeiras are currently top of the Brazilian Serie A with a seven point lead while they are into the semi-final of the Copa Libertadores.

Hence, the club are said to be reluctant to lose their prized asset, and it may depend on the player pushing for a move in the coming hours.

The Gunners are optimistic that they can finalise an agreement.
