Arthur Melo agrees Liverpool loan deal

Arthur Melo to join Liverpool

Arthur Melo will swap Juventus for Liverpool this season, after the Anfield giants managed to get a deal over the line for a loan transfer deal on deadline day. An injury sustained to captain Jordan Henderson meant that the club had to move swiftly to sign a replacement, and have opted for the Brazilian defensive midfielder.

The 26-year-old began life playing for Gremio in his home country, before moving to Barcelona and then later on transferring to Juventus as part of a deal involving Miralem Pjanic. Whilst with Juve, Melo has found himself in and out of the first-team, but was informed at the beginning of the summer that he is no longer required at the Turin side.

Arthur Melo played for Juventus 42 times since 2020, and for his country he has appeared 22 times, scoring 1 goal. The 5 foot 7 defensive midfielder will add strength in depth for Jurgen Klopp's side, who have already struggled with injuries this season and have had a quiet transfer window so far.

It is understood that there is currently no option to make the deal permanent next summer.
