Brazil boss explains reason for dropping Arsenal star
Brazil manager Tite has clarified that Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has been dropped for the upcoming internationals to offer opportunities to other players.
The 26-year-old has been a mainstay for the Brazilian national side, and it came as a surprise yesterday when his name was not present in the squad.
It was initially suggested that he was axed from the team, but Tite has revealed that the attacker is absolutely in his plans for the winter World Cup.
He went on to say that Jesus did not make the squad such that he can offer opportunities to others ahead of the showpiece tournament in Qatar.
He said: "Gabriel Jesus is in a great moment and running, yes. Absolutely, yes. This call-up served to give opportunities to others."
"I already have his portrait in the national team and in the club and now I give opportunities to others."
Brazil are due to play two friendlies against Ghana and Tunisia this month. A number of fringe players have the chance to prove their worth.
