Ronaldo to leave in January?

A number of Manchester United players are anticipating the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo during the January transfer window.

The Portuguese wanted to leave the Red Devils this summer, but they were no suitable offers on the table for his services.

On top of this, United were also reluctant to leave him without a proper replacement, and he had no choice but to stay.

However, the scenario could change at the turn of the year with Ronaldo still determined to play Champions League football.

He has featured in the competition for 19 seasons running, and looks keen on extending the streak with a new club this winter.

Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich have distanced themselves from an approach, but Chelsea could yet return for him.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly wanted to bring the 37-year-old to Stamford Bridge this summer, but Thomas Tuchel vetoed the move.

With Tuchel having been dismissed, Boehly may make a personal choice to sign the five-time Ballon d'Or winner in January.
