Manchester United are prepared to trigger the extension clause on Marcus Rashford's contract if they can't finalise a new deal by January.

The England international has been in superb form for the Red Devils this term with three goals and two assists from six league appearances.

His form has led to suggestions that the club could extend his stay, but they are yet to make any progress over a new long-term contract.

Rashford's current deal with United expires next summer, but the club's hierarchy have the option to extend his contract by another year.

According to The Express, the board are likely to activate the clause by January if they can't finalise a new deal with their club graduate.

As things stand, Rashford will be free to speak with foreign clubs this winter, and United appear determined to avoid such a situation.

Aside from Rashford, the club are also open to discussing a renewal with Anthony Martial. They have time with his deal only expiring in 2024.
