Furious Ten Hag pushes Cristiano Ronaldo towards exit
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag wants Cristiano Ronaldo to leave the club in January, as the Dutchman was apparently furious that the Portuguese headed down the tunnel in the 89th minute of the 2-0 victory over Tottenham in mid-week. Ronaldo wanted to leave Old Trafford in the summer, but no potential suitors emerged.
It is now understood Erik Ten Hag wants the player to leave the club immediately, and is ready to let the club release the forward on a free transfer, with Sporting Lisbon apparently interested.
Ronaldo attempted to leave during the summer but nobody could afford the former Real Madrid and Juventus star's 450,000 euro per week salary. Cristiano has suggested that he is willing to take a substantial paycut in order to pave the way for an exit from Old Trafford.
In a short statement on the club's official website, Ronaldo has been told he will not be a part of the first-team squad: "Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s Premier League game against Chelsea.
The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture."
