Chelsea planning to discuss fresh terms with midfielder
Chelsea are prepared to re-open contract negotiations with midfielder Mason Mount in the New Year.
The England international made his Blues debut three years ago, and he has since bagged 32 goals and 37 assists from 181 games.
The 23-year-old is regarded as a key player in the squad, but the club have yet to convince him to sign a new long-term contract.
His current deal expires in just over 18 months and TeamTalk claim that the Blues will reopen discussions with him in January.
Mount is currently one of the lowest earners at £75,000-a-week and he has turned down the Blues' proposal of around £150,000.
The Blues graduate is reportedly eyeing close to £250,000 weekly which is what Reece James is being paid following his renewal.
Mount and James made their debuts in the same campaign and the midfielder appears determined to secure similar wages.
Chelsea are still confident that they can convince him to pen an extension. Negotiations will take place at the turn of the year.
