Toney to Chelsea?

Chelsea could attempt to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney at the end of the season, journalist Peter O'Rourke claims.

The Blues invested more than £250 million during the summer transfer window, but the major focus was on the defence.

Only Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were signed to bolster the attack and neither has impressed significantly.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, O'Rourke has now said that the Blues could definitely consider a move for Toney next summer.

He said: "I think Chelsea will be looking at him [Toney]. If you're looking at Premier League strikers and ones that are probably more gettable than others, Ivan Toney definitely comes into the reckoning."

The 26-year-old has been superb for the Bees this term. He has registered 10 goals from just 14 appearances in the Premier League.

On the contrary, the Blues have netted just 17 goals as a whole from the same number of games. They need a marquee striker.

Toney may not be available this winter, but he could be prised away at the end of the season. Brentford may want around £50m.
