Newcastle United recall player from Manchester United

Newcastle United have made the decision to recall goalkeeper Martin Dubravka from his loan spell at Manchester United.

The Slovakian signed for the Red Devils before the summer transfer deadline, but he made just two appearances for them until January.

The Magpies have now triggered the recall clause in his contract and Dubravka is set to rejoin them in training in the coming days.

Newcastle have had a splendid season in the Premier League and they are currently lying third in the standings after 17 games.

United are right behind them in the table at the moment, and the Tyneside outfit obviously don't want to strengthen a top-four rival.

Eddie Howe's side have been one of the surprise packages of the league campaign, but they face a difficult test over the next few months.

If they want to qualify for Europe, they need plenty of quality and depth. Dubravka could now act as Nick Pope's deputy on the bench.
