Arsenal enter race to sign Aston Villa star?

Arsenal have reportedly entered the race to sign Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins this summer.

The Englishman has been in tremendous form for the Villans this term, bagging 15 goals from 33 outings.

The majority of his goals have come in the last few months and Villa are keen to reward him with a new contract.

Amidst this, Footbal Insider claim that the Gunners are keeping a close watch under the advice of Mikel Arteta.

Arteta has been a big admirer of the former Brentford man and is reportedly keen on bringing him to the club.

The Gunners boss is eyeing a more physical striker this summer and Watkins is considered as the perfect fit.

Watkins is currently contracted to the Villans until June 2025 and talks are underway over a new extension.

Arsenal could persuade the Villans to sanction his sale for a reported fee of around £50 million this summer.

Watkins previously admitted during his Brentford days that he would like to play for Arsenal during his career.
