Brighton to seal shock Ansu Fati move on deadline day
20-year-old prodigy Ansu Fati is heading for Brighton and Hove Albion, as the 20-year-old Spain international surprisingly chooses the South Coast club as opposed to Chelsea, Tottenham or Man Utd, both of whom were interested in the forward. Barcelona have reluctantly agreed to let Fati leave on loan for the season, and will not consider selling Fati on a permanent basis, despite a need to balance the books.
At Barcelona, Fati has so far made 79 league appearances and scored 22 goals whilst at international level two goals in 9 appearances in Spain have highlighted the player's prowess in front of goal. He is generally considered to be Spain's best young attacking prospect.
Barcelona believe that a short-term stint in England will only improve his game, with the belief that exposing him to a different experience and style of football will benefit his development.
Tottenham were widely considered to be in pole position to wrap up a deal for Fati, as a replacement for Harry Kane, but the last ditch effort from Brighton has been sufficient to persuade Fati that the Seagulls is the best possible next destination for his young career.
