Arsenal duo won't be available to face Liverpool
Arsenal duo Mohamed Elneny and Takehiro Tomiyasu won't be available for the FA Cup third round tie against Liverpool this weekend.
The Gunners had a poor end to 2023 with two successive Premier League defeats. They dropped 11 points in the top-flight last month.
Mikel Arteta will be eyeing a strong performance against the Reds this weekend but ahead of the game, he will be missing two players.
Mohamed Elneny is expected to report for African Cup of Nations duty with Egypt. He will be joined by compatriot and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.
Meanwhile, Takehiro Tomiyasu also won't be available for the Gunners as he is due to report with Japan for the upcoming Asian Cup.
Elneny's absence won't concern the Gunners but Tomiyasu will be missed, considering his strong defensive presence in the full-back roles.
With Oleksandr Zinchenko also injured, Jakub Kiwior could now have an extended role from the left side of the defence for the Gunners.
