Sacha Boey to move to Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich's pursuit of a new right-back has drawn to a close as the Bavarian side have wrapped up a transfer to sign French defender Sacha Boey. The 23-year-old will leave the Turkish club after just two years and moves to Germany in a deal worth 30 million euros.

First reported on X formerly known as Twitter by Fabrizio Romano, the Mountreuil-born defender emerged through Rennes' youth ranks before making his debut in 2019. Galatasaray paid 15 million euros for the player in 2021. Boey is considered one of the best young defenders in Europe and is a major coup for Bayern Munich, who had first made an approach for the full-back last summer.

Arsenal were amongst the teams linked with a move for Boey, with the Gunners missing Jurrien Timber through injury and uncertainty over the long-term future of Takehiro Tomiyasu.

It is understood that Galatasaray will move swiftly to replace Sacha Boey with a transfer for Arsenal defender Cedric Soares, who has been informed that he is free to leave the club on a free transfer.
