West Ham chase Josh Brownhill

West Ham look set to sign Warrington-born midfielder Josh Brownhill from Burnley this week, with the 29-year-old likely to be amongst newly appointed West Ham manager Graham Potter's first signing. The Hammers have beaten Leeds United to the signing of Brownhill, who will be offered an 18 month contract at the East London outfit.
Brownhill has been with Burnley since 2020, appearing in 176 league games, and prior to that played for both Preston North End and Bristol City. Brownhill came through Manchester United's youth ranks and is expected to add much needed competition to the Hammers' midfield.
With the player's contract coming to an end, the Hammers will only need to pay around £400,000 to sign Brownhill, as the player will be able to move elsewhere on a free transfer in the summer, and Burnley have opted to cash in now instead of losing the player for nothing.
Brownhill is highly rated by Potter, and the English coach is expected to sign at least four new players during the January transfer window.
