Chelsea preparing move to sign Ajax defensive star

Chelsea are preparing an approach to sign Ajax defender Jorrel Hato during the summer transfer window, according to Caught Offside.

The Blues are eyeing a new central defender for next season with the inconsistency of Tosin, Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana, who has been injury prone too.

The Blues have identified Hato as one of the prime options and reports claim that they could make a formal approach for the wonderkid in the coming days.

Ajax are open to parting ways with their club graduate for the right price. They could be willing to sanction his departure for around £49 million.

Chelsea may first offload at least a central defender before making a move. Tosin is one of the front-runners to leave amid interest from English teams.

Brighton & Hove Albion were keen on landing him earlier in the year. Crystal Palace and West Ham United could also be contenders for him.
