Serie A giants to return for Man Utd star in January?
Serie A giants Napoli are planning to make a fresh approach for Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo when the transfer window reopens in January.
The Italian champions signed Rasmus Hojlund on loan from the Red Devils this summer. As part of the deal, they have a €44m buy clause which will become an obligation under certain conditions.
Hojlund is most likely to join the Naples outfit on a permanent basis. Antonio Conte's are also keen on landing Mainoo. A loan offer was snubbed last month, but they could return for him this winter.
Mainoo was determined to leave the Red Devils on loan before the transfer deadline on September 1, but the hierarchy made it clear that he would not be permitted, given the lack of midfield depth.
The Red Devils were keen on landing a new midfielder before the deadline. They made a loan approach for Atletico Madrid's Conor Gallagher, but the La Liga giants turned down the temporary offer.
United could make a renewed attempt for the Englishman at the beginning of the New Year. It remains to be seen whether that contributes to Mainoo heading out of Old Trafford midway through the season.
