Chelsea ready to battle Man City for £75m PL star

Chelsea could be prepared to compete with Manchester City to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, according to The Mirror.

The west London giants currently have Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia as their standout defensive midfielders, but they are eyeing one more top-class addition to their ranks.

Anderson has now emerged as the top transfer target and reports claim that he could be signed for around £75 million next year.

However, the Blues are not alone in the pursuit. They are set to face competition from Manchester City for his services.

Aside from a new midfielder, the Blues are exploring the transfer market for a new central defender and a shot-stopper.

The Blues are likely to focus on just one marquee winter signing, and they could pursue the remaining targets over the summer.

Chelsea will return to Premier League action against Sunderland on Saturday. They are favourites to pick up another win.

The Blues have won four of the previous five meetings against the Black Cats.
