Gabriel back for Sporting CP game

Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost ahead of the Champions League meeting against Sporting CP on the road tomorrow.

The Gunners suffered a setback against Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-final last weekend. Gabriel Magalhaes picked up a knee injury and manager Mikel Arteta said that he asked to be substituted.

However, it was probably more cautionary, considering the Brazilian star was back in open training earlier today. He has travelled with the team to Portugal before the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

Sporting CP are unbeaten in 23 domestic matches and Arsenal are still favourites for the encounter, and will be aiming for a strong performance on the back of successive defeats in two Cup competitions.

Arteta played a heavily rotated XI against Southampton in the 2-1 defeat and should field his strongest line-up when they take on the Portuguese champions on the road in tomorrow's much-awaited clash.

Alongside Gabriel, the likes of Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres are set to start.
