Alonso demands Liverpool exit

Liverpool and Spain international midfielder Xabi Alonso has put Arsenal on high alert after reportedly having a meeting with Rafa Benitez, where the player demanded a swift transfer away from the club.

Arsenal have been keen to bring in a midfielder all summer, after the loss of Mathieu Flamini to Milan and Gilberto Silva to Panathinaikos.

It is understood that Arsene Wenger is prepared to pay up to £18 million to bring in the flair midfielder, to partner him with Spanish international team mate Cesc Fabregas.
