Aston Villa line up Given offer

Man City backup Shay Given has told his agent to find him a new club for next season due to an increasing frustration at playing second fiddle to Joe Hart. Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is readying a £3m offer for the Irish shot stopper.

Shay Given had been the number one between the sticks at the City of Manchester, but the arrival of Roberto Mancini and the impressive form of Joe Hart saw him spend more time on the bench.

Aston Villa are in the market for a new keeper after Brad Friedel elected to join Tottenham on a free transfer, leaving only Brad Guzan available.
