Arsenal: We Will Not Bow To Stars Demands

Sanchez and Ozil are looking for a big pay rise to stay at Arsenal

Despite having reported funds of £100 million, Arsenal appear to be refusing to bow to the excessive wage demands of star players Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, who have to date refused to sign new contracts at the Emirates.

The future of Sanchez and Ozil has been questioned recently, as many people are suggesting that they need to move elsewhere if they are to achieve the success that their talent deserves. A Daily Mail report today has suggested that despite having cash reserves of £100million, Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick will not accept the huge increase in salary that the players have requested. Mesut Ozil is currently the club's top earner, with £140,000 per week, but is said to be looking for a weekly wage of £250,000 in order to sign a new deal, with Alexis Sanchez looking for something similar.

Arsenal are looking to tie down current players before the season ends, in order for them to strengthen in the summer, as they look to mount a challenge for silverware next season. Francis Coquelin, Hector Bellerin, Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud, Per Mertesacker and Santi Cazorla have all recently agreed to extend their stay with the Gunners.

Whilst it is a respectable stance by the Arsenal chairman, not giving in to every demand of players, if Sanchez and Ozil are allowed to leave, the Gunners may find it very difficult to replace them.
