Everton have emerged as potential contenders to sign Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial in January.

The Frenchman has played less than 400 minutes of first-team football this term, and he is desperate to move on.

He has been linked with Barcelona and Lyon in recent days, but The Mirror claims that the Toffees are also interested.

Rafa Benitez is keen on adding attacking reinforcements in January, and Martial is being eyed on a potential loan.

The Merseyside outfit can spend in the New Year after easing their FFP concerns with the recent sale of James Rodriguez.

However, they are still not in a position to spend big, and are likely to propose a loan deal for Martial with a buy option.

There is no indication that United will consider offers for the Frenchman as they could lose Jesse Lingard in the coming weeks.

Lingard has snubbed a new contract beyond next summer. He is expected to be sold on a cut-price deal in the upcoming transfer window.
