Gunners join Belotti chase

Arsenal to rival Liverpool for Torino striker

17 September 2016 - 06:46

Arsenal will reportedly go head-to-head with Liverpool to pursue the services of Torino striker Andrea Belotti. The Italian is being eyed as a possible replacement for Olivier Giroud in the future.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • The Gunners failed in their attempts to land a top-class striker in the summer with Jamie Vardy snubbing a move to the Emirates whilst they were priced out of their chase for Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette.

The Sun says manager Arsene Wenger will look into a deal for Torino's Belotti in the New Year with Olivier Giroud running out of time to prove himself.

Lucas Perez was brought in this summer to provide competition to the Frenchman upfront, and the arrival of new marksman could see the Frenchman end his association with the North London outfit.

Belotti has progressed well in his time at Torino, and the Gunners would have to fight off interest from Liverpool, if they are to have any chance of landing the player in January.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has previously sent scouts to watch Belotti in action, and talks with his representatives are at an initial stage.

The 22-year-old has had a fine start to his Serie A campaign netting four goals in just two outings.
