Erik Lamela close to new Spurs deal

Argentine attacker Erik Lamela will be the latest to pen a fresh contract at Tottenham Hotspur. The 24-year-old was in good form for Spurs last term as they clinched a Champions League berth.

  • Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino had hinted earlier in the week that they would be more big names committing their futures after the likes of Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose extended their contracts earlier this month.

According to The Express, Lamela is the next in line for a long-term contract as the North London outfit seek to build up on the performances of last season.

Lamela joined Spurs from Roma in 2013, and had a frustrating couple of seasons before he came good during the previous campaign.

Alongside Lamela, Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen is also expected to be rewarded with a new contract which will extend until the summer of 2020 at least.
