Manchester City are ready to give Pep Guardiola a £150 million war chest for the January transfer window, despite having spent £175 million on new players this summer, according to reports.

  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The Mirror is reporting that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will be allowed to spend up to £150 million once the transfer window re-opens in January, despite the Catalan coach having just spent £175 million on new arrivals in the summer.

City, who currently sit top of the Premier League despite last weekend’s loss to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane, spent a record amount of money to sign several players in the summer, as the Manchester club looked to back their new manager and enable him to shape a squad to best fit his philosophy.

In came John Stones from Everton for £47.5 million, Leroy Sane for £42 million, Ilkay Gundogan for £20 million and goalkeeper Claudio Bravo for £16 million.

The Citizens also brought in a host of young player with an eye on the future. Alexandr Zinchenko was signed from FC Ufa and Marlon Moreno was brought in from Atletico Nacional – both of whom have been loaned out for this season.

The Sky Blues have also spent £27 million to sign Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Jesus from Santos, who will finish out the current season in Brazil before making the move to Manchester in January.
