Klopp confirms Gomez is out for Blues trip

Jurgen Klopp confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea clash

05 May 2018 - 07:56

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Joe Gomez is unavailable for this weekend's Premier League meeting versus Chelsea. The England international suffered an ankle problem in last weekend's goalless stalemate versus Stoke City.

  • Chelsea tipped to make shock move for Marcus Rashford
  • Man Utd believe they can sign Bournemouth star for £64m

  • In a report covered by the Reds' official website, Klopp confirmed that Gomez is unavailable for the encounter and he has joined three other players including Emre Can, Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the treatment room.

Adam Lallana, however, has had his first training session since recovering from a hamstring problem but Klopp is unlikely to risk him for the upcoming outing in west London.

Liverpool currently hold a six-point advantage over Chelsea with three games to play and they require just one point from this weekend's game to mathematically assure themselves of a top-four finish.

The Merseyside outfit have gone through a lean run which has included three draws in four league games and Klopp is unlikely to rotate his side for the Blues trip.
