Alvaro Morata heading back to Real Madrid?

20 July 2018 - 11:25

Chelsea have reportedly offered Real Madrid the chance to re-sign Alvaro Morata after failing to meet their expectations during his debut season in the Premier League.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Morata arrived from the European champions for a club-record £60m deal last summer and he made a strong start to proceedings with six goals in as many outings.

However, he thereafter struggled for form and fitness which hampered his gametime and he ended the campaign with just nine more goals in the remaining 42 appearances.

According to OK Diario, the Blues are prepared to entertain the sale of Morata to Los Blancos this summer with Maurizio Sarri eyeing one of Robert Lewandowski or Gonzalo Higuain as a probable replacement.

Nevertheless, Julen Lopetegui's side could be reluctant to match the record fee the Blues spent for his signature and they may have to take up a loss in order to sanction his exit.

Real Madrid are already in advanced negotiations to sign Blues duo Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois this summer and the double deal may cost them a fee of at least £200m.
