Arsenal's Alex Iwobi set for new contract?

22 July 2018 - 23:16

Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi is reportedly on the cusp of penning a new long-term deal with the north London club.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd interested in signing Aurelien Tchouameni
  • The Nigeria international had recently been linked with a potential exit from the Emirates with Lazio said to be weighing up a £22m move for his signature.

However, in a quick turn of events, The Mirror suggests that the player has agreed to a fresh four-year contract with the Gunners with the assurance of a decent payrise.

The Nigerian has generated mixed opinions from the club's supporters since his debut during the 2015/16 season but he has nevertheless made a mark with nearly a century of first-team appearances.

Apart from Iwobi, the likes of Mesut Ozil, Mohamed Elneny, Granit Xhaka, Calum Chambers, Rob Holding and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have extended their deals since the turn of the year.

Aaron Ramsey now remains the only key concern with his contract due to expire in 12 months' time. The Welshman has, however, provided hints over a new deal by expressing his eagerness to work under Unai Emery.
