Predicted Chelsea lineup (3-4-2-1) vs Newcastle United, Werner and Abraham start

15 February 2021 - 19:01

Chelsea will be looking to extend their winning streak in the Premier League when they face Newcastle United on the road tonight.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Blues have won their previous three league games and they can break into the top four with either a draw or win at St James' Park.

    Formation: 3-4-2-1

    Predicted Line-up:

Edouard Mendy was given a breather in the FA Cup fifth round. He is expected to return between the sticks tonight as he is the undisputed goalkeeper for the Premier League.

In the backline, Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger are expected to return to the starting XI. They should replace Kurt Zouma and Emerson respectively.

Reece James made the difference in the slender 1-0 win over Barnsley where he provided an assist coming off the bench. He is expected to start at right wing-back with Marcos Alonso on the opposite end.

N'Golo Kante made his first start since his injury return in midweek. He is likely to keep his place. Billy Gilmour will drop to the bench to be replaced with Jorginho.

Mason Mount has been the Blues' most consistent playmaker and he is likely to make up the attack alongside Timo Werner, who is available after missing the midweek game with a dead leg.

Tammy Abraham should lead the line after his standout display at Oakwell. The England international scored the winning goal and came up with a superb goalline clearance as well.

Predicted Chelsea lineup (3-4-2-1): Edouard Mendy; Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger; Reece James, Jorginho, N'Golo Kante, Marcos Alonso; Timo Werner, Mason Mount; Tammy Abraham
