Predicted Chelsea line-up (3-4-1-2) vs Man United, Giroud and Werner start

28 February 2021 - 15:34

Chelsea are scheduled to host Manchester United in the Premier League this evening.

  • Man Utd eyeing move for Chelsea defensive duo?
  • Erik ten Hag confirms triple Man Utd injury boost for Newcastle game

  • The west London side are unbeaten in the previous six league games with four wins and two draws.

The Blues are currently two points adrift of fourth-placed West Ham United with a game in hand.

Their recent home record against United has been poor with three straight defeats in all competitions.

They will be aiming to end the streak with a win to reclaim the final Champions League spot.

    Formation: 3-4-1-2

    Predicted Line-up:

Edouard Mendy is the Blues' first-choice goalkeeper and he is certain to keep his place between the sticks.

There may be a solitary change in the back three with Kurt Zouma taking the spot of Andreas Christensen.

Elsewhere, Reece James may come in for Callum Hudson-Odoi in the right wing-back position.

In the centre of the park, one of Jorginho or Matteo Kovacic could make way for the return of N'Golo Kante.

Kante has been in and out of the line-up since overcoming a hamstring injury.

Kovacic could be the player to drop to the bench, given he has started the last two games for the club.

Further forward, there may not be any changes. Mason Mount will take up the position behind the front two.

Timo Werner should fare better with Olivier Giroud acting as a focal point, something which he had at RB Leipzig.

Giroud scored with a superb overhead kick against Atletico. He is in good form at the moment with goals in back-to-back games

Predicted Chelsea XI (3-4-1-2): Mendy; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Kante, Alonso; Mount; Werner, Giroud.
