Arsenal make William Saliba transfer decision

29 May 2021 - 19:57

Arsenal have no plans of offloading William Saliba on a permanent basis this summer, football.london claims.

  • Chelsea manager on Reece James before Man Utd game
  • Chelsea want to sign Bournemouth midfielder

  • The Frenchman signed for the Gunners from Saint-Etienne in 2019, but he was loaned back to the club.

On his return last summer, the 20-year-old was expected to break into the first-team plans, but that was not the case.

Saliba failed to make his competitive debut under manager Mikel Arteta, and he was loaned out to Nice in January.

According to football.london, Arteta was impressed with the Frenchman's progress during his time with Nice.

With the departures of David Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis, Saliba will be given a change to breakthrough.

His performances will be assessed during pre-season, but the club are unlikely to entertain his permanent exit.

The Gunners are planning a major squad rebuild. The likes of Hector Bellerin and Granit Xhaka could head for the exit door.

The futures of Eddie Nketiah, Alexandre Lacazette and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are also uncertain ahead of the summer.
