Arsenal defender Cedric Soares has emerged as a potential target for Atletico Madrid this month.

The La Liga giants recently sanctioned the sale of Kieran Trippier to Newcastle United for around £12m.

They are now eyeing a replacement. The Mirror claims that Soares is one of the top names on their radar.

The right-back has played a bit-part role this season following the summer arrival of Takehiro Tomiyasu.

With Calum Chambers and Ben White also capable of playing in the role, he could head for a temporary exit.

Atletico are eyeing a loan deal for his services, but they may need to include a buy option to tempt the Gunners.

The north London giants are planning at least two signings this month, but are likely to focus on departures first.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has been loaned out to Roma. Folarin Balogun could soon join Middlesbrough in a similar deal.

There have also been suggestions that Pablo Mari could head for the exit door. Flamengo are looking to re-sign him.
