Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is determined to keep defender Cesar Azpilicueta at the club for the forthcoming season.
The Spaniard has been with the Blues for a decade, and there has been speculation that he could leave the club this summer.
The Blues are open to selling him with a year left on his contract, but The Mail cites that Tuchel values the experience of the captain.
The German tactician has reportedly urged the hierarchy to keep the 32-year-old, and will push them to extend his stay until June 2024.
Chelsea are set for a major rebuild of their defence this summer following the free transfer exits of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
They are expected to pursue two central defenders to fill the void, but may also need a left wing-back with Marcos Alonso pushing for an exit.
The Spaniard is on the radar of Barcelona, and negotiations are already underway between the clubs regarding his potential switch to Camp Nou.
