Liverpool plotting Jermain Defoe raid

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is planning a January bid for Jermain Defoe. The unsettled Tottenham striker is desperate for regular first team action prior to Euro 2012 and could leave White Hart Lane for Anfield before the end of the transfer window.

Reports in the Daily Mirror suggest that Liverpool have turned their attentions to Defoe after the unimpressive form of strike duo Dirk Kuyt and Andy Carroll this year; whilst the suspension of Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez has seriously dented the Reds' title ambitions this year.

So far this year, Tottenham have mainly turned to on loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor for goals, whilst Spurs continue to be linked with a mega money move for Marseille striker Loic Remy.

Defoe is concerned that he will be left out of Fabio Capello's Euro 2012 squad and has requested a move away from the club if he cannot be guaranteed first team football. Tottenham have also told Russian forward Roman Pavlyuchenko that he will not be sold, but the club are struggling to hold on to unhappy Defoe.

Liverpool are weighing up an 8m GBP move for Defoe.
