Koscielny To Stay At Arsenal

Koscielny To Stay At Arsenal

Koscielny To Stay At Arsenal

Laurent Koscielny's agent, Stephane Courbois had triggered a series of rumours and reports linking the in-demand centre back to Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

But as clarifications come in from the France international, it seems very clear now that both the clubs will have to wait for another season in order to bid for the defender. The £15million-rated player told Arsene Wenger, his boss, that he is happy at the Emirates and is not interested in leaving.

This decision of Koscielny will go down as a huge relief for the Arsenal fans who have become used to losing some of their most important players leave every summer - Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie - to name a couple. Koscielny was fantastic, especially in the second half of the season as Arsenal clinched the fourth spot.

Wenger, who has £70 million at his disposal, is already making big news and is currently leading the bidding for Real Madrid's, Gonzalo Higuain. However, he would not have wanted his star defender to leave the Emirates. Arsene Wenger is also reportedly leading the race to sign Asier Illarramendi, the 23 year old defensive midfielder, who helped his side Real Sociedad qualify for the Champions League for the first time.

More news from Arsenal's defense line may come from Bacary Sagna, the right back, who just might be tempted to leave the Gunners for PSG, who seemed to be interested in the defender. But it seems more likely that he will see out his last year of contract and prefer to leave as a free agent.
