Roma defeat AC Milan
Mirko Vucinic's second-half header gave Roma a 1-0 away victory over AC Milan on Sunday as the Rossoneri continued their bad run of results in the Serie A.
Vucinic, who scored Roma's winner in the 2-1 midweek Champions League win over Sporting Lisbon, successfully filled in for the injured Francesco Totti.
He notched home the winner in the 72nd minute after being set-up by Cicinho.
Milan slipped to 13th place in the league table with ten points while Roma moved second on 18 points, three adrift of leaders Inter Milan who were held to a goalless draw by Palermo.
The European champions are yet to win any match at San Siro as pressure mounts on coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Kaka could have put the hosts in front in the 17th minute when he was released clear on goal after Alberto Gilardino stepped over Andrea Pirlo's pass.
However, the Brazilian playmaker's low shot narrowly missed the target.
Milan had to thank goalkeeper Dida three minutes later after the Brazilian goalie was on alert to deny compatriot Cicinho on a couple of occasions.
Dida dived to block Cicinho's first-timer and then blocked another volley from the former Real Madrid man from the resulting corner.
Roma should have gone ahead in the 28th minute when a superb counter attack saw Montenegro striker Vucinic go one-on-one with Dida after being fed by Mancini.
But Vucinic, under pressure from the determined Cafu, shot wide as the visitors were denied a glorious opportunity to stun the home crowd.
Milan's ageing defenders produced a spirited display but were never able to match their opponents' pace, especially in fast counter-attacks.
The hosts couldn't create clear-cut chances in the second-half, paving way for Roma to establish their dominance.
Vucinic finally broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute when he got ahead of Alessandro Nesta to powerfully head home Cicinho's pinpoint cross at the near post.
The visitors could have even doubled the lead eight minutes later when they awarded a penalty after Massimo Ambrosini was adjudged to have brought down Daniele de Rossi inside the area.
De Rossi tried to take a Totti-style penalty but his chip went over the bar. The Giallorossi held on to their lead to claim a precious win.
