Manchester United's transfer targets

Manchester United boss  David Moyes looking to boost his credentials as a manager by bringing in big name signings this January.

Following the transfer 'omnishambles' the footballing world witnessed courtesy of David Moyes and United Chairman Ed Woodward last summer might make an encore even before the transfer window opens this January.

Following failed attempts to secure Cesc Fabregas, Thiago Alcantara and the now famous Andres Herrera bid, one expects a club of Manchester United's reputation to make moves with more pizzazz.

After a disastrous start to the season for the team with last season's top scorer Robin van Persie back to his injured ways and the side sitting 8th place in the Premier League, the club and Moyes promised to bring in big name signings to boost standings in the coming months.

But nothing of the sorts has materialized so far with Inter playmaker Fredy Guarin, top target for United, is set to join Chelsea this January. Also $50 million rated PSG star Edinson Cavani and AC Milan defender Christian Zapata have already brushed aside rumors of United's interest. Another big name linked was Barca midfielder Andreas Iniesta, who is now on the verge of signing a new deal with the Catalans giants this week.

With rumors that point to a Van Persie exit and Wayne Rooney's contract talks still hanging in the balance, pressure is mounting on Moyes to show his credentials as Sir Alex Ferguson's replacement and bring in star names into the club that were Champions only last season.
