Courtois - linked with Real Madrid transfer

Chelsea's manager Jose Mourinho has denied reports that the club will struggle keeping hold of goalkeeping starlet Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian international shot stopper has spent three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid and has now been linked with a permanent transfer to city rivals Real Madrid.

There is no doubt that Courtois is one of Europe's best young goalkeeping prospects and many Blues fans are hoping that the player will return from Atletico Madrid to take over the number 1 jersey at Stamford Bridge after Petr Cech's career at Chelsea comes to a close.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is plotting a move for Courtois as there remains some uncertainty over the long term future of current first choice Iker Casillas, whilst Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has seemingly given up all hope of signing Courtois on a permanent deal as it has become apparent Chelsea have slapped a £25 million price tag on the big Belgian.

Mourinho has been forced to continuously reiterate his long term belief that Courtois will remain a Blues player and yesterday snapped at reporters when questioned. Mourinho quipped: "We don't struggle to keep hold of Courtois. He has two more years left on his contract. We don't need to give any assurances to any players, a player that has a contract at Chelsea has a contract with Chelsea. If anyone wants him we have to know."
