Arsenal closing in on Portuguese sensation?

Arsenal are reportedly close to sealing a deal for one of Portugal's best young talents during the summer transfer window.

Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho is considered to be among the prime targets for manager Arsene Wenger this summer, as he aims to take the club to the next level and challenge for the Premier League title in the upcoming season.

According to Portuguese Sports Daily O Jogo, the 22-year-old could be the subject of a £24m bid from the Gunners. The report also suggests that Sporting could accept the transfer offer, in spite of it being way less than the £37m release clause in the player's contract.

Arsenal have already acquired the services of Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, David Ospina and Calum Chambers this summer.
